Worthington Industries acquires Ohio pickling and slitting facility

Columbus, Ohio-based Worthington Industries Inc. announced it is expanding its presence in Northeast Ohio with the purchase of a nearly 280,000-square-foot pickling and slitting facility from Heidtman Steel Products Inc., located in in Cleveland. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Worthington said in a news release the facility, which is adjacent to the ArcelorMittal steel mill, includes pickling and slitting of hot-rolled carbon flat-rolled steel for the automotive, heavy truck, agriculture and heavy equipment markets.

Worthington said in the non-union Heidtman facility has about 100 employees, and it will complement the company’s existing operations in Northeast Ohio, which include a cold-rolled steel processing facility in Cleveland and Samuel Steel Pickling Co., a joint venture in Cleveland and Twinsburg.
