WISCO sets up JV with Taiwan’s CSC to develop denitration catalyst

Hubei Province-based Chinese technology company WISCO Engineering Technology Group Co., a subsidiary of major Chinese steel producer Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Co. (WISCO), has signed an agreement with Taiwan-based China Ecotek Co., a subsidiary of Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC), to establish a joint venture company called WISCO Yuke Environmental Technology Co., as reported by Chinese media sources on January 31. The registered capital of the new JV company, which will be based in Hubei, amounts to RMB 182 million ($29.35 million), with 51 percent held by WISCO Engineering Technology Group Co. and the remaining 49 percent held by China Ecotek Co.
 
The new joint venture company aims to develop production of a selective catalyst reduction (SCR) denitration catalyst based on technology already developed by WISCO, for the removal of nitrogen oxides from flue gases.
