Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa), a subsidiary of the Russian pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK), has announced the commissioning of the modernization works at its large diameter pipe production line 1020.
The main modernization works at the line are planned to be conducted in October- November, during the line's stoppage for schedule repair. Vyksa plans to invest Ruble 100 million ($3.9 million) in the modernization of the line in question.
As a result of the modernization, the maximum length of pipes produced at the line will be increased to 12.4 m from the current 11.6 m.
At the moment, Vyksa has two production lines for the manufacturing of large diameter pipes used in the construction of pipelines, having a combined annual production capacity of two million mt. The first line, which is at present being modernized as stated above, is able to produce pipes with diameter ranging from 508 mm to 1,067 mm and with current length of 11.6 m. The second line produces pipes with diameter of up to 1,420 mm and length of 12.4 m.
