Austrian steelmaker Voestalpine has announced that it is expanding its international output capacities in the railway business, via the acquisition of a railway turnout plant SEI.L (Societe d’Equipement Industriel.Lietaert) in France and new shareholdings in China and Argentina, strengthening its railway market position in these countries.

The company stated that it has become a major supplier of France’s state-owned railway company SNCF (Société nationale des chemins de fer français) with the acquisition of SEI.L, adding that France will make significant investments in its railway infrastructure sector within a decade.

The latest acquisitions will help to significantly increase the company’s competitiveness in the railway infrastructure sector.
