Venezuela’s Sidor sees decreasing crude steel production in 2014

Crude steel production at Venezuelan steelmaker Sidor fell 29.7 percent in 2014, year on year, to 1.04 million mt.

According to media reports, Sidor hasn’t been operating at full capacity. In 2014, it produced about 20 percent of its 5.1 million mt/year capacity. According to local sources, steel production at Sidor has been decreasing since 2008.

Rebar production in 2014 reached 105,217 mt, down 40.19 percent, year on year. Wire rod production decreased 27.4 percent in 2014, year on year, to 189,353 mt, reports said.

According to reports, 2014’s crude steel production at Sidor reached the lowest level in decades.
