Value of Mexico’s metallurgical mining imports increases for 28 consecutive months

The value of Mexico’s mining and metals imports grew 8.9 percent, year-over-year, in January to $1.31 billion, the 28th consecutive increase, contrary to the value of exports that declined in the last seven months, according to a SteelOrbis analysis of data from the national statistics agency Inegi.

The value of metallurgical mining exports from Mexico totaled $1.16 billion in January, 2.9 percent less than in the same month of 2022. In the last seven months, since July 2022, the value has been decreasing.

The balance of the metallurgical mining trade balance was negative for Mexico with a deficit of $154 million, it is the thirteenth consecutive negative balance.
