Vale’s co-owned slab producer Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP) exported 500,000 mt of slab in the past four months, from August 9 to December 9, the Ceara state port authority, Ceara Portos, announced. The mill is owned by Vale, Dongkuk and Posco.

According to Ceara Portos, CSP’s 15th slab cargo is expected to send 54,000 mt of the product to Turkey. As the shipment arrives in Turkey, CSP would then have exported 551,298 mt of slabs through the Pecem port.

Ceara Portos said CSP’s slab is being exported mainly to the US, which accounts for about 23 percent of the steelmaker’s total exports so far, in addition to Thailand (19 percent), Turkey (12 percent) and Taiwan (10 percent).
