Oman-based Oman Rail Company and the UAE-based Etihad Rail Company, operators of the UAE-Oman Rail Network, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Brazilian iron ore producer Vale for the transportation of iron ore and pellet from Vale’s industrial complex in Sohar Port in Oman to its distribution centers and its planned industrial complex in the UAE.

Rogério Nogueira, product and operations manager of Vale, stated that the MoU supports the company’s plans to develop complexes in Oman and the UAE to produce low-carbon products.

The plant in Sohar has an annual production capacity of nine million mt of pellet and an annual distribution capacity of 40 million mt of iron ore and pellet.
