Vale to gradually restart operations at Itabira, maintains iron ore guidance

Brazilian iron ore producer Vale has said in a press release that it has received official approval to reopen its Conceiçao, Caue and Periquito mines at its 36 million mt per year Itabira complex, located in the state of Minas Gerais. The company stated that it will gradually resume operations at the complex.

Besides, Vale said that the impact of the halt on production was lower than one million mt and so its iron ore production guidance for 2020 remains unchanged at 310-330 million mt.

The company suspended operations at its Itabira complex on June 5 due to concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic, following a court order, as previously reported by SteelOrbis.
