US wire rod exports drop 7.6 percent in February

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of wire rod totaled 7,799 mt in February 2018, down 7.6 percent from January and down 1.4 percent from February 2017 levels. By value, wire rod exports totaled $7.3 million in February, compared to $7.2 million in the previous month and $7.3 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most wire rod to Canada in February with 5,328 mt, compared to 6,887 mt in January and 5,926 mt in February 2017. Other destinations included Mexico, with 1,691 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US wire rod exports in February.
