US raw steel production declines 2.2 percent

US raw steel production declined last week (ended October 1), with output decreasing by 2.2 percent from the previous week. In the week ending September 25, US raw steel production had dropped by 0.2 percent compared to the previous week.

Total raw steel production in the United States last week amounted to 1,675,000 (nt).This figure represents a decrease of 2.2 percent from the 1,712,000 nt produced in the prior week (October, 2010) but is up 18.4 percent from the 1,415,000 nt produced in the same week of last year.
