US plates in coil exports down 0.5 percent in September

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of plates in coil totaled 34,379 mt in September 2019, down 0.5 percent from August but up 93.8 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, plates in coil exports totaled $29.8 million in September, compared to $30.7 million in the previous month and $16.7 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most plates in coil to Mexico in September with 26,315 mt, compared to 26,341 mt in August and 13,172 mt in September 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 7,091 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US plates in coil exports in September.
