US line pipe imports up 14.2 percent in August

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 68,004 mt in August 2023, up 14.2 percent from July and up 18.9 percent from August 2022 levels.

By value, line pipe imports totaled $101.4 million in August 2023, compared to $103.6 million in July and $93.4 million in August 2022.

The US imported the most line pipe from South Korea in August, with 35,829 mt, compared to 12,621 mt in July and 20,622 mt in August 2022. Other top sources of imported line pipe in August include Mexico, with 6,948 mt; Canada, with 4,713 mt; United Kingdom, with 4,666 mt; and South Africa, with 3,485 mt.
