The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has announced that it has started the preliminary phase of an antidumping (AD) duty and a countervailing duty (CVD) investigation on imports of large diameter (LD) welded pipe from Canada, China, Greece, India, South Korea and Turkey.

According to the ITC, in this proceeding it will determine whether there is a reasonable indication that the local industry is materially injured or is threatened with material injury by reason of imports from Canada, China, Greece, India, Korea, and/or Turkey of large diameter welded pipe that are allegedly subsidized/sold in the US at less than fair value. The commission will next determine whether to launch an antidumping and countervailing duty investigation on the mentioned imports. The commission is expected to issue its preliminary results by March 5, 2018.

The investigation was launched upon the request lodged by the American Line Pipe Producers Association (ALPPA) and other US-based companies.
