The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has announced the institution of the second sunset (five-year) reviews of the antidumping (AD) duty orders on stainless steel wire rod (SSWR) from Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, and Taiwan as of July 1, to determine whether revocation of the subject duty orders would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury to the US domestic industry within a reasonably foreseeable time.
On September 15, 1998, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) issued AD duty orders on stainless steel wire rod from Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, and Taiwan. Following the first sunset reviews by the DOC and the ITC, effective August 13, 2004, the DOC decided in favor of continuation of the AD duty orders on imports of stainless steel wire rod from the countries in question.
The ITC is now conducting second sunset reviews to determine whether revocation of the orders would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury. Following the assessment of the adequacy of interested party responses to this notice of institution, the ITC will determine whether to conduct full reviews or expedited reviews of the AD duty orders on stainless steel wire rod imported from Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, and Taiwan.
