US iron and steel scrap exports to Turkey down 69.69 percent in Jan

According to the statistics released by the US International Trade Commission (US ITC), in January this year exports of iron and steel scrap from the US amounted to 898,998 mt, decreasing 42.72 percent from December and down 41.40 percent compared to January 2013. The value of these exports decreased by 39.62 percent compared to December and by 40.92 percent year on year, falling to $381.28 million.

In January of the current year, South Korea was the leading scrap export destination of the US, receiving 213,128 mt, up 19.06 percent year on year and down 50.71 percent month on month. South Korea was followed by Taiwan which imported 197,827 mt of scrap from the US in January, up 2.53 percent, and by Turkey which imported 151,163 mt, down 69.69 percent, both compared to January 2013.
