According to market insiders, a US investment fund has made an offer to acquire Terni, Italy-based ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali, a leading producer in the Italian stainless steel market.

Accordingly, the board of directors of parent company German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp will meet to discuss the sale of the Italian company, which could bring in about €1 billion. A spokesman for ThyssenKrupp refused to comment on the reports.

As previously reported by SteelOrbis, in the month of May this year ThyssenKrupp announced the separation of its stainless steel business, practically putting its stainless steel interests up for sale.
