US HRC exports drop 7.3 percent in January

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 61,200 mt in January 2018, down 7.3 percent from December and down 12.4 percent from January 2017 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $48.9 million in January, compared to $49.7 million in the previous month and $48.5 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in January with 33,476 mt, compared to 45,637 mt in December and 43,692 mt in January 2017. Other top destinations included Canada, with 27,418 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HRC exports in January.
