According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 232,716 mt in November 2017, down 2.6 percent from October and down 4.1 percent from November 2016 levels. By value, HDG imports totaled $210.3 million in November 2017, compared to $222.5 million in the previous month and $198.0 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most HDG from Canada in November, with 83,268 mt, compared to 73,702 mt in October and 78,240 mt in November 2016. Other top sources of imported HDG in November include Turkey, with 33,887 mt; Brazil, with 16,629 mt; Taiwan, with 12,453 mt; UAE, with 12,242 mt; and Netherlands, with 10,675 mt.
