US flat rolled producers announce new RMS
This week, Nucor Steel and AK Steel each announced December raw materials surcharges (RMS). Nucor has raised their RMS to $5.75 cwt ($126.77 /mt or $115.00 /nt) for for all sheet products. This is an increase of $50 /nt on Novembers RMS of $3.25 cwt. ($71.65 /mt or $65 /nt). This surcharge will be applied to all orders with a delivery date from December 3, 2005 through December 31, 2005. The company has stated that its December order books are full at all sheet mill divisions, and they are now open for January orders. A Nucor representative told SteelOrbis today that she is not aware of any change in base prices for December orders. AK Steel Corp has added a RMS to December orders of flat rolled carbon steel as well as electrical steel products. A surcharge of $10.34 cwt. ($251.33 /mt or $228.00 /nt) will be added to all flat rolled carbon products shipped in December, and a surcharge of $14.97 cwt.
