On December 27, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced the preliminary results of the five-year (sunset) review of its antidumping (AD) duty order for stainless steel sheet and strip in coils from Mexico.
As a result of the review, the DOC preliminarily found that revocation of the AD order on stainless steel sheet and strip in coils from Mexico would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of dumping.
The petitioners which participated in the review are: AK Steel Corporation; Allegheny Ludlum Corporation; North American Stainless; the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial Service Workers International Union; United Auto Workers Local 3303 and United Auto Workers Local 4104.
As a result of the review, the DOC determined the following preliminary margins: ThyssenKrupp Mexinox S.A. de C.V. and Mexinox USA, Inc. (collectively Mexinox) - 30.69 percent, and all others - 30.69 percent.
The margins currently valid according to a 1999 AD order are: Mexinox - 4.48 percent, and all others 30.69 percent.
The DOC said that the final results will be announced no later than April 28, 2011.
