According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports cold rolled sheets totaled 142,629 mt in September 2018, up 8.4 percent from August but down 26.6 percent from September 2017 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $117.2 million in September 2018, compared to $109.3 million in the previous month and $139.2 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most CRC from Canada in September, with 27,594 mt, compared to 29,274 mt in August and 25,448 mt in September 2017. Other top sources of imported CRC in September include Mexico, with 17,577 mt; Australia, with 15,924 mt; Turkey, with 11,299 mt; Vietnam, with 11,186 mt; and Germany, with 7,975 mt.
