US CRC imports up 0.9 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 198,493 mt in April 2018, up 0.9 percent from March and up 2.5 percent from April 2017 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $158.8 million in April 2018, compared to $154.7 million in the previous month and $145.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in April, with 38,549 mt, compared to 36,389 mt in March and 27,061 mt in April 2017. Other top sources of imported CRC in April include Mexico, with 25,033 mt; Vietnam, with 23,666 mt; Australia, with 20,789 mt; Turkey, with 18,962 mt; and Russia, with 15,125 mt.
