According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 78,744 mt in February 2020, down 29.9 percent from January and down 25.4 percent from February 2019 levels. By value CRC imports totaled $65.6 million in February 2020, compared to $86.6 million in the previous month and $86.9 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most CRC from Canada in February, with 37,846 mt, compared to 47,080 mt in January and 25,583 mt in February 2019. Other top sources of imported CRC in February include Mexico, with 19,316 mt; Germany, with 4,158 mt; Korea, with 4,093 mt; and Sweden, with 2,645 mt.
