US CRC imports down 24.2 percent in February

According to delayed final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 105,606 mt in February 2019, down 24.2 percent from January and down 22.7 percent from February 2018 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $86.9 million in February 2018, compared to $114.4 million in the previous month and $110.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Mexico in February, with 28,469 mt, compared to 27,105 mt in January and 16,582 mt in February 2018. Other top sources of imported CRC in February include Canada, with 25,583 mt; Australia, with 11,206 mt; Vietnam, with 8,438 mt; United Kingdom, with 5,946 mt; and Sweden, with 5,599 mt.
