According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheet totaled 134,462 mt in June 2018, down 17.1 percent from May and down 46.5 percent from June 2017 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $111.6 million in June 2018, compared to $139.1 million in the previous month and $186.7 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most CRC from Canada in June, with 32,969 mt, compared to 36,782 mt in May and 29,761 mt in June 2017. Other top sources of imported CRC in June include Turkey, with 28,337 mt; Vietnam, with 19,269 mt; Mexico, with 12,060 mt; Germany, with 7,608 mt; and Thailand, with 5,712 mt.
