US CRC imports down 14.4 percent in October

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 97,708 mt in October 2019, down 14.4 percent from September and down 31.7 percent from October 2018 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $79.9 million in October 2019, compared to $87.4 million in the previous month and $122.9 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in October, with 43,591 mt, compared to 46,847 mt in September and 28,390 mt in October 2018. Other top sources of imported CRC in October include Mexico, with 22,468 mt; Korea, with 8,985 mt; Sweden, with 5,371 mt; and Turkey, with 3,232 mt.
