According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 101,451 mt in July 2019, down 14.2 percent from June and down 32.6 percent from July 2018 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $79.9 million in July 2019, compared to $98.8 million in the previous month and $129.3 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most CRC from Canada in July, with 30,960 mt, compared to 35,693 mt in June and 26,349 mt in July 2018. Other top sources of imported CRC in July include Vietnam, with 20,380 mt; Mexico, with 18,660 mt; Sweden, with 6,531 mt; and Korea, with 6,475 mt.
