US CRC exports down 5.9 percent in December

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cold rolled sheets totaled 41,094 mt in December 2018, down 5.9 percent from November but up 14.4 percent from December 2017 levels. By value, CRC exports totaled $45.0 million in December, compared to $47.8 million in the previous month and $38.6 million in December 2017.

The US shipped the most CRC to Mexico in December with 28,625 mt, compared to 27,753 mt in November and 23,254 mt in December 2017. Other top destinations included Canada, with 10,251 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US CRC exports in December.

As for the full-year 2018, US CRC exports totaled 526,092 mt, down 14.1 percent from 2017 totals. By value, CRC exports totaled $590.7 million in 2018, compared to $654.5 million in 2017.
