The major Ukrainian steelmakers have released their preliminary production results for the first ten months of 2007.
Accordingly, Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich) increased its finished steel products output by 2.7 percent, its pig iron production by 0.2 percent, pipe production by 18.7 percent and agglomerate production by 12.8 percent year on year in the first ten months of 2007. The respective figures in metric tons were 4.54 million, 4.5 million, 107,700 and 10.56 million. However, Ilyich saw a 0.7 percent decrease in its crude steel production to 5.76 million metric tons.
During the period in question, Azovstal registered a 6.6 percent increase in its finished steel products output, a 6.3 percent rise in crude steel production, a 9.1 percent increase in pig iron production, and a 0.4 percent drop in its agglomerate production year on year. The respective figures in metric tons stood at 4.64 million, 5.23 million, 4.5 million and 1.62 million.
In the first ten months of 2007, Istil produced 807,000 metric tons of finished steel products - up 17.3 percent, and 860,000 metric tons of crude steel - up 16.7 percent, compared to the corresponding period of 2006.
In January-October 2007, Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) increased its finished steel production by 5.9 percent to 2.905 million metric tons, it upped its crude steel production by 3.4 percent to 3.233 million metric tons, its pig iron production by 6.4 percent to 2.66 million metric tons, but decreased its agglomerate production by 4.7 percent to 4.081 million metric tons, all compared to the corresponding period of 2006.
During the given period, Mittal Steel Kriviy Rih registered a 3.8 percent increase in its finished steel production, a 8.5 percent increase in its crude steel production, a 7.7 percent rise in its pig iron production and a 6.5 percent increase in its agglomerate production year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 5.91 million, 6.79 million, 6.03 million and 9.995 million.
In the first ten months of 2007, Enakievsk Metallurgical Plant (EMZ) produced 2.245 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 7.7 percent, 2.26 million metric tons of crude steel - up 9.1 percent,1.96 million metric tons of pig iron - up 8.9 percent, and 1.845 million metric tons of agglomirate - up 4.9 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of 2006.
Finally, in the January-October 2007 period Zaporizhstal raised its finished steel products output by 2.7 percent, crude steel production by 1.3 percent, pig iron production by 1.7 percent and its agglomerate production by 2.1 percent year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 3.12 million, 3.75 million, 3.025 million and 4.77 million.
