Ukraine’s Elektrostal, being scrap-based, is usually somewhat troubled in terms of production, especially taking into account recently challenging business conditions. However, in the first quarter this year the company demonstrated positive production results.
Electrostal produced 29,000 mt of steel billet in the January-March period while in March alone its billet output totaled 16,000 mt, according to the preliminary data. It is worth mentioning that the company’s production was idled in the first quarter of 2019. Overall last year, Electrostal produced 83,300 mt of square billet, down 3.5-fold year on year.
