Ukrainian crude steel production declines by 27.2 percent in H1

In the first six months of the current year, Ukraine registered a 27.2 percent year on year decrease in its carbon steel output to 11.25 million mt, according to the data issued by the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom. Pig iron production in the January-June period of the current year decreased by 29.1 percent to 10.19 million mt, while finished steel product output declined by 28 percent to 9.79 million mt, both year on year.

The country's production of metallurgical coke in the given period declined by 38.5 percent year on year to 5.24 million mt, while steel pipe output went down by 44.9 percent to 427,000 mt year on year.

In June alone, Ukraine produced 2 million mt of crude steel, falling 7.2 percent compared to the previous month and down 21.7 percent year on year, 1.79 million mt of finished steel products, down 1.6 percent compared to May and decreasing by 18.6 percent compared to June 2014, and 1.8 million mt of pig iron, down 5.4 percent month on month and declining by 22.2 percent year on year.
