Ukraine’s iron ore export up 16.2 percent in Jan-August

In the January-August period of this year, Ukraine exported 30,265 million mt of iron ore, up 16.2 percent, worth a total of $1.47 billion, down 38.1 percent, both on year-on-year basis, according to the data released by the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.
 
In terms of value, the exports mostly went to China (46.61 percent), Poland (10.4 percent) and the Czech Republic (9.92 percent).
 
Meanwhile, in the first eight months of this year Ukraine imported 1.536 million mt of iron ore, down 32.4 percent, worth a total of $72.960 million, down 62.1 percent, both on year-on-year basis. The main supplier of iron ore to Ukraine in the given period was Russia, which supplied 99.95 percent of the total import volume.
