Ukraine’s January 2006 steel output falls
Ukraine's Industrial Policy Ministry disclosed that the country's finished steel
production fell 2 percent year on year to 2.69 million metric tons in January.
Crude steel
production fell 1 percent year on year to 3.24 million metric tons in January while
pig iron production decreased 4 percent year on year to 2.61 million metric tons.
On the other hand, steel
pipe production soared 10 percent year on year to 146,000 metric tons during the same period.
Ukraine produced 4.33 million metric tons of
iron ore concentrate last month, down 5 percent from a year earlier. Sinter
production also fell 2 percent to 4.02 million metric tons. On the other hand, pellet
production increased 9 percent to 1.38 million metric tons.
