Ukraine’s iron ore exports up 20.6 percent in Q1

According to the data released by Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in the first quarter of this year Ukraine exported 11.113 million mt of iron ore, up 20.6 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year, worth a total of $608.439 million, down 38.7 percent year on year.

The exports mostly went to China (47.24 percent in monetary terms), Poland (10.83 percent) and the Czech Republic (10.14 percent).

In the first quarter of this year, Ukraine imported 594,849 mt of iron ore, down 35.5 percent year on year, worth a total of $30.391 million, down 62.1 percent year on year. The main supplier of iron ore imports in the first quarter was Russia, which supplied 99.99 percent of the total import volume.
