According to the data issued by the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in January 2011 Ukraine's imports of coking coal went up by about 56 percent year on year to 815,000 mt, but decreased by five percent month on month from about 860,000 mt imported in December 2010.
Meanwhile, in the first month of this year Ukraine's coke and chemical plants received about 1.6 million mt of domestic origin coking coal, maintaining the same levels as in December 2010.
In 2010, Ukraine imported 9.4 million mt of coking coal.
