UK basic metal production index up 2.5 percent in 2011

According to a report released by the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), in December 2011 the UK's seasonally adjusted index of manufacturing rose by 0.8 percent compared with December 2010 and was up one percent compared to November. The seasonally adjusted manufacturing index in 2011 as a whole rose by 2.1 percent compared with 2010.
 
Meanwhile, in the UK the seasonally adjusted production index of basic metal and metal products fell by 3.4 percent in December this year compared with December 2010 and was up 1.4 percent compared to November. In the whole of 2011, the seasonally adjusted production index of basic metal and metal products rose by 2.5 percent compared to 2010.
