Turnover in Turkish metals manufacture down for third straight month

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in August this year increased by 17.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and was down 3.4 percent over July.
 
In August, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey improved by 29.72 percent year on year and registered a decline of 5.68 percent over the previous month. In May this year, the index had reached its highest monthly level since September 2008, but it has been falling since then.
 
Meanwhile, in August, the monthly industrial new orders index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by 3.23 percent over July and was up 25.72 percent year on year. However, in August, new orders for the manufacture of basic metals were still down by 29.2 percent as compared to August 2008.
