In May, Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) imports amounted to 12,788 mt, rising by 83.4 percent compared to the previous month and up 170.4 percent year on year, while the revenue from these imports totaled $7.8 million, rising by 64 percent year on year and up 62.5 percent month on month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
In the first five months of the current year, Turkey's PPGI imports increased by 109.5 percent to 45,912 mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $30.4 million, up 44.2 percent, both year on year.
In the given period, China ranked first among Turkey's PPGI import sources, supplying 31,438 metric tons, up 174.28 percent year on year. China was followed by Italy and Belgium, with their PPGI exports to Turkey amounting to 6,914 metric tons and 2,801 metric tons respectively.
