Turkish metals manufacture new orders down 2.8% in July

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in July this year increased by 6.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and was down by 6.2 percent from June this year.

In July, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey improved by 1.2 percent year on year and registered a two percent decrease from the previous month. Meanwhile, on year-on year basis the last decline in the index was recorded in January 2010. The industrial turnover index for fabricated metal products manufacturing, except machinery and equipment, recorded a rise of 11.3 percent year on year in the month in question and decreased by 2.1 percent from the previous month.

Meanwhile, in July this year, the industrial new orders index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by 2.3 percent from June and was down 2.1 percent year on year. On year-on-year basis, this constitutes the first decrease since January 2010. The industrial new orders index for the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, in July this year decreased by 4.7 percent compared to the same month of 2011 and was down 4.3 percent compared to the previous month.
