On April 2 the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) released Turkey's export figures for the month of March, revealing a particularly strong performance by the country's iron and steel exports which were up 44.56 percent.
According to the TIM statement, Turkish exports increased by 22.86 percent in March 2008 compared to the same month of 2007 to reach US$10.95 billion, while the exports rose by 36.16 percent in the first three months of 2008 compared to the same period in 2007, to reach US$31.41 billion.
In addition, Turkey's exports over the past 12 months went up by 26.59 percent to US$114 billion, TIM Chairman Oguz Satici said. Iron and steel exports saw the highest rise in Turkey's industrial sector in March, up 44.56 percent to US$ 1.35 billion.
