Turkish iron and steel exports rise 14.18% in April

On May 2 the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) released Turkey's export figures for the month of April. According to the TIM statement, Turkish exports increased by 39.16 percent in April 2008 compared to the same month of 2007 to reach US$11.39 billion. Meanwhile, Turkey's exports rose by 36.9 percent in the first four months of 2008 compared to the same period in 2007, to reach US$42.78 billion.

In addition, Turkey's exports over the 12 months up to the end of April went up by 27.6 percent to US$117.5 billion, TIM Chairman Oguz Satici said. In April Turkey's iron and steel exports registered an increase of 14.18 percent, climbing to US$1.61 billion.
