According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in February this year the producer price index (PPI) for Turkish industry in general increased by 1.66 percent over January and was up 6.82 percent year on year, while an average rise of 1.2 percent was registered for the latest twelve months. In January, the index had increased by 0.58 percent over the previous month.
In February, the PPI for the domestic basic metal industry rose by 0.86 percent month on month and was up 5.34 percent compared to February 2009. Meanwhile, the average decrease in the latest twelve months was 19.58 percent.
On the other hand, during the given month, the PPI for domestic manufacture of metal products, except machinery, dropped by 1.01 percent over the previous month and was down 2.8 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the sector in question, an average increase of 0.74 percent in the PPI index was registered in the latest twelve months.
