According to the preliminary statistics provided by Turkey's Steel Exporters' Association (CIB), in January this year Turkey's total steel product exports amounted to 1.59 million metric tons, decreasing by 10.45 percent compared to the previous month of December and up 32.74 percent year on year.
In January, rebar exports accounted for 47.75 percent of Turkey's total steel product exports, while billet exports constituted 17 percent, exports of steel pipes and fitting parts made up 8.3 percent, exports of steel section constituted 8.25 percent, wire rod exports accounted for five percent and flat steel exports accounted for 4.1 percent.
In January 2012, Saudi Arabia was Turkey's largest destination for steel exports, receiving 259,927 metric tons, almost quintupled year on year. Turkey's steel product exports to the US and Singapore also saw significant increases.
