In May, Turkey's steel bar exports in volume climbed up by over 40 percent on month-on-month basis, reaching its highest level since July last year.
According to the data provided by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in May this year Turkey's total steel bar exports, including rebar, amounted to 681,886 metric tons, decreasing by 11.5 percent year on year and up by 40.72 percent month on month. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $430.19 million, improving by 25.5 percent compared to May 2009 and up 47.2 percent month on month.
In May, the average export price of Turkish steel bar amounted to $630/mt, increasing by $28/mt or 4.61 percent from April levels, and up $186/mt or 41.8 percent from May last year.

Meanwhile, in the first five months of 2010, Turkey's steel bar exports declined by 46.45 percent, reaching 2.52 million metric tons, while the revenue for these exports stood at $1.41 billion, decreasing by 33.56 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
