According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year Turkey's stainless flat steel imports rose 20.04 percent compared to the previous month, increasing to 30,583 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $95.96 million, increasing by 22.7 percent as compared to July this year.
In August, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from Taiwan amounted to 5,410 metric tons, decreasing by 6.3 percent month on month and accounting for approximately 27 percent of Turkey's total stainless flat steel imports. Turkey's second biggest source of stainless flat steel imports in August was South Korea with 3,540 metric tons, increasing by 11.5 percent compared to July this year.
In the first eight months of this year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports amounted to 229,461 metric tons, increasing by nine percent compared to the same period last year. Imports from Taiwan in January-August this year amounted to 52,057 metric tons, decreasing by 2.8 percent compared to the same period last year. Imports from South Korea in the first eight months of the year amounted to 36,611 mt, increasing by 57 percent compared to the same period last year.
