Turkey’s rebar exports to UAE up threefold in August over July

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year Turkey's rebar exports amounted to 627,974 metric tons, increasing by 1.37 percent year on year and down 2.9 percent from the previous month.  Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $360 million, falling by 4.45 percent compared to August 2012 and down three percent from the previous month.

On the other hand, in the first eight months of the current year, Turkey's rebar exports stood at 5.33 million metric tons, down 4.97 percent year on year, while the total revenue of these exports amounted to $3.13 billion, decreasing by 12.54 percent as compared to January-August 2012. 
 
In August this year, Turkey's rebar exports to the UAE increased by almost threefold compared to July, totaling 178,580 mt. Despite this substantial rise in August, the country remained the second largest rebar export destination for Turkey in the first eight months of the year with exports amounting to 748,340 mt, following Iraq which imported 983,560 mt from Turkey during the given period.
