In October this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 133,958 mt, down 3.6 percent compared to September and up 26.7 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month decreased by three percent month on month and were up 74.8 percent year on year to $50.3 million.
In the first ten months of the current year, Turkey's pig iron imports decreased by 12 percent to 838,161 mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $297 million, up 27.5 percent, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey imported 533,515 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, up 56.64 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 158,998 mt, down 71.66 percent year on year.
