In the first stage, the mill will have an annual capacity of 700,000 mt, allowing for a capacity increase to 1,400,000 mt per year in a second phase. With the bar and wire rod mill from SMS Meer, Kardemir will be able to produce cost-effectively even in small batches and, enabling the company to flexibly react to market demand at any time.

According to SMS Meer, the new mill will produce bar in coils, 20 to 55 mm in diameter, SBQ bars, 20 to 100 mm in diameter, and wire rod, 5.5 to 25 mm in diameter. The new SBQ mill is scheduled to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2015.
