Turkey’s iron ore imports up 63.6 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 831,172 metric tons, falling by 25.1 percent compared to December 2014 and up 63.6 percent year on year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports amounted to $88.09 million, down 28 percent month on month and rising by 20 percent year on year.


 
In January, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil more than doubled year on year to 456,288 metric tons. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 164,511 metric tons, down 0.28 percent, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Ukraine in the given period amounted to 95,162 metric tons, up 63.2 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
